Its Ok to not be Ok

The Mountains Are A calling And I Must Go

2017

The year that changed me for ever

It all started with a daily walk up Ben Nevis, in the month of October 2017. Recovering from severe depression, i wanted to share with the world my go to way of helping my mental health.

The Hills were my place, and they bought me out of a hole i was in.

Raising Awareness of the benefits of being outside, i successfully completed 31 consecutive summits of Ben Nevis. This encouraged many others to talk about their own wellbeing.

All the time while helping raise Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team over £3000

The following year wasn’t much different really, Ben Nevis but not 31 days this time, but Blindfolded. Raising money for The Guide Dog Association.

My hardest ascent of any hill by far, but my Guide dog Oony, and good friends kept me safe.

And by chance the following day, i met a lovely chap named Colin, on at train who was partially sighted and had Ushers Syndrome. A few months later and we were both wandering up High Raise in the Lake District with my eyes partially sighted with special glasses.

It wasnt long before i was back on Ben Nevis and helping to raise money for the 2015 Nepal Earthquake relief, with Nepalese Ghurkha;s joining us for the day.

A year or so later and i was helping friends raise money on Ben Nevis for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Not sure im done with fundraising challenges quite yet so watch this space
